Hailing from sunny South Cali, our latest instalment of Haute Thing summons 21 year old Heliely of Heliely B to reveal her fashion faux pas when it comes to men’s style. As introverted as this stylish babe claims to be, her fashion certainly says otherwise with a wardrobe as eclectic and interchanging as her mood. This girl believes in keeping a little something to the imagination, so if your shorts are verging on ‘hoochi’ you may want to reconsider.

What’s your name? Heliely Bermudez.

How old are you? 21 years young.

Who/what influences your style? Anyone and anything really! I’ve been really into those chic avant garde looks like Margaret Zhang and the classic-sexy chic look like Nicole Warne. Both girls are amazingly beautiful!

What kind of style do you like on guys? I like guys who can pull off a simple button-up and some nice Sperry Top-siders. My boyfriend is one of those simple guys and I love how he doesn’t have to try hard to look good. Guys just have to make it seem like they don’t have to try hard to look good, they just do – that kind of confidence.

What should guys just never wear? Really short shorts… Shorts that go way past the mid thigh. I mean, maybe a bit over the knee but not past that.

What are some current trends that you think guys need to ditch? Overly constricted pants.

What are some things, in your opinion, that never get old in men’s fashion? Button-ups, casual graphic tees, and beanies. Seriously in love with guys in beanies.

What do you think it says about a guy if he’s always in sneakers? A guy who’s casual, active, and likes comfort!

You meet a hot guy with bad dress sense. Deal breaker? Yes. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone I was attracted to that didn’t have a good sense of style. I mean I’m not one to complain, but it’s a major plus if the guy dresses well too.

Guy dresses really well, but still lives with his parents. Deal breaker? Not really, I mean I’m 21 and I still live with my parents haha deal breaker? It honestly depends on the age. If he’s in his late 20’s or early 30’s and still lives with his parents, then I’ll start questioning if he can support himself or not. Women like to know a guy can be strong and independent, hard-working, and most definitely has a job.

Guy spends more money on clothes than you do. Deal breaker? Yes and no. Some men’s clothes can be way more expensive than girls, so I get it. But if he constantly shops then it’s a deal breaker. I like knowing my guy can look good, but it’s not his main priority.

Who is a guy who you think personifies good style? I haven’t actually paid much attention to who-what-wears in the men’s fashion world, except for Lookbook, but I’ve always admired Peter Adrian’s sense of style though.

Groomed guys or scruffy guys, who do you prefer? A mix of both. A groomed guy that has a little of a scruffy look is the best of both worlds.

Finish these sentences:

Every guy should own… a beanie.

Camo print is… nice, but don’t overdo it!

Guys who wear caps are… cool cats.

On a first date a guy should wear… a nice button-up.

Guys who wear luxury brands are… too high-end for me, but I won’t complain.

Graphic t-shirts on guys are… my kind of guys.

Beards on guys are… mysterious and sexy (but not long beards right?)

Tattoos on guys are… sexy ahhh there are no words to describe it, just not too many please!
